ICT/e-Learning Activities and Acute Learning Difficulties

Peter has acute learning difficulties, caused by a motorbike accident when he was 17.  He is now 46.  Despite his physical and learning difficulties, he has made significant strides to live a normal and independent life.  He lives on his own with regular care support from his family.  Peter loves art, which he does at Headway (an organisation which helps people with head injuries), and has had his art shown at an exhibition where he lives in Newark.  Peter felt frustrated, because of his motor skills difficulties that were affected by his accident.  He found it difficult to understand the written word, or put into words what he wanted to say or write.  He has recently acquired a computer, which includes access to the internet and email.  With the support of the Cascade Project, and a new software package to help him to read and write, he is now able to contact family and friends, and enjoy pastimes that previously could only be accessed through outside help.  He wants to go on to do a qualification in Basic IT skills.
